Over 700 Scouts Celebrate 20th Anniversary of Frost Camp Now

BREAKING: More than 700 Scouts and Guides are currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of Frost Camp at the Bentley Copse Activity Centre, with a weekend packed full of exciting activities. The event, which kicked off on 30 January 2023, has quickly become a highlight for young people across the region, showcasing thrilling outdoor experiences in a vibrant atmosphere.

Participants from local groups including 1st Brookwood, Pyford Scouts, 1st Goldsworth Park, 1st Knaphill, and 8th Woking joined in this momentous occasion, marking the camp’s growth from just 200 participants in its inaugural year in 2006 to over 700 this year. Despite the wet weather, spirits were high as Scouts embraced the challenges ahead.

The weekend featured a range of exhilarating activities, including climbing walls, a gladiator inflatable, Jacob’s Ladder, crate stacking, zipline rides, and abseiling, catering to the adventurous spirit of the attendees. A new attraction, the bag drop, where participants leap from a tower onto a giant inflatable, quickly became a crowd favorite.

For those looking for more grounded activities, options included air rifle shooting, archery, tomahawk throwing, and fencing. The diverse lineup ensured that every participant found something to enjoy, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among the Scouts.

Evenings were filled with memorable experiences, including a film night on Friday and a lively campfire on Saturday. The thrill of ziplining in the dark added an extra layer of excitement, making these moments unforgettable.

James, an 11-year-old Scout from Pyford, expressed his enthusiasm: “I liked all the activities because they were fun to do and made us work together as a team.” Another Scout, Rory, also 11, shared his experience: “The bag drop was fun; I felt my life was flashing before me before landing safely on the wet inflatable bag.”

Frost Camp plays a crucial role in developing #SkillsForLife among young people, providing opportunities for growth that many local groups cannot offer on their own. With activities designed to challenge and inspire, this celebrated event continues to leave a lasting impact on its participants.

As the weekend concludes, Scouts and Guides are set to reflect on their adventures, building lasting memories and friendships. Stay tuned for more updates from this incredible event, as Frost Camp proves once again to be a highlight in the calendar for youth development and engagement.
